Asterisk IP PBX - IVR Recording Scripts

Recording Scripts for IP-PBX IVR

In this blog, I will be providing you with the recording scripts for Interactive Voice Response for Asterisk IP PBX,  Voice recordings are mandatory and  it work as announcements. It can be Machine Voice or Human Voiceover., But preferably most enterprise Voice network use Human voiceover rather than machine recordings as it gives more in-person and emotional psychlogical aspects. In the previous blogs we already discuss on how to setup and configure basic Main line IVR for a small company.

So let me today give you sample of how to do the scripting of IVR announcement. Scripting of IVR recording mainly depends upon the options that we need caller input for, number of paramaeters like different number of departments or sites that IVR intended to communicate for. Lets take an example below-

Here let say 0800- is our Main line IVR number and it is intended for number of small sites (lets say Nine sites) and "0" goes to Head office,

For the voice recording i prefer the tool "Audacity", it is available free on the internet, you can download and do the editing on the audio prompts or record the audio files in the correct format as required by asterisk PBX system.
Below is the snapshot from Audacity, here i provided steps to do the editing
Download Audacity

Set the 'Project Rate (Hz)' in the bottom left hand corner to 8000 of Audacity.

Click on the record button and finish the recording.

In the track description area (left) click on the drop down arrow

Choose “Split Stereo to Mono”

Then delete one of the mono tracks

Next select 'File' >' Export' > Export Audio

Change the 'Save as type' to 'Other uncompressed files'
Then click Format 'Options' button (bottom right)

> Select 'AU(Sun/NexT)' for 'Header'
